El departamento de carreras de la firma británica ha confirmado sus pilotos de pruebas de cara a los mundiales de MXGP y SuperMotocross 2024: Clément Desalle e Ivan Tedesco.

La nueva Triumph TF 250-X arranca en España

A medida que se intensifican los preparativos para el debut de Triumph en los Campeonatos del Mundo de MXGP/MX2 y SuperMotocross 2024, Triumph Racing confirma la incorporación de dos pilotos de primer nivel para liderar las pruebas de desarrollo de las motos de carreras.

Clément Desalle se incorpora como piloto de pruebas al equipo Triumph Racing MXGP/MX2 dirigido por Thierry Chizat-Suzzoni, mientras que Ivan Tedesco se une como piloto de pruebas a tiempo completo al equipo Triumph Racing US SuperMotocross World Championship, dirigido por Bobby Hewitt.

Clément Desalle compitió al más alto nivel en el Campeonato del Mundo de MXGP durante 15 años y fue uno de los pilotos más consistentes de la categoría. Logró tres subcampeonatos, fue tercero en el Mundial tres veces y terminó cuarto dos veces más. El belga subió a lo más alto del podio en 23 ocasiones a lo largo de su carrera, además de coronarse campeón del Pro-Open belga en 2009. Se retiró de las carreras en 2020 y centró su atención en las pruebas de conducción y el desarrollo de motos de competición. Actualmente ya está haciendo una importante contribución al progreso de Triumph con su nueva moto de carreras.

Clément Desalle

Clément Desalle: “Unirme al proyecto de Triumph en MX2 me permite aplicar mis años de experiencia como piloto profesional a la evolución desde una moto estándar hasta una moto de carreras, totalmente de fábrica y lista para competir en MX2 en la temporada 2024. Al trabajar con Thierry y Vincent, tengo claro que Triumph se ha unido a los mejores profesionales para lograr buenos resultados y victorias en el menor tiempo posible. Estoy muy emocionado por lo que nos depara el futuro”.

Vincent Bereni, Jefe del equipo Triumph Racing – MXGP: “Cuando Triumph nos propuso unirnos a este proyecto de MX, sabíamos que el I+D y las pruebas con la moto iban a ser una parte muy importante del éxito. Clément tiene mucha experiencia en los circuitos de MXGP, conoce a fondo la exigencia de la categoría y sigue siendo muy rápido. Hemos trabajado con Clément durante muchos años y es un piloto muy exigente y que presta atención a todos los aspectos de la moto; así que, en nuestra opinión, es el candidato perfecto. Nos conocemos y nos entendemos muy bien y él ya ha aportado mucho al desarrollo de las motos, tanto las de producción como las de carreras. Estamos muy contentos de que se una al proyecto”.

Ivan Tedesco: Triumph Racing US en SuperMotocross

Ivan Tedesco comenzó a competir en moto con ocho años y se hizo profesional en 1999. Durante los 14 años que duró su carrera deportiva, ganó dos veces (2004 y 2005) la serie de la Costa Oeste del AMA de Supercross en 125cc, el Nacional AMA de Motocross en 125cc (2005) y el Motocross de las Naciones en 3 ocasiones con el equipo de EE.UU. (2005, 2006 y 2009).

Después de retirarse de las carreras a nivel profesional en 2014, Tedesco dedicó su talento a entrenar a pilotos jóvenes y trabajar con diferentes fábricas hasta convertirse en uno de los mejores pilotos de pruebas de desarrollo de la era actual.

Ivan Tedesco: “Estoy muy emocionado por formar parte del nuevo programa de carreras de Triumph y de volver a trabajar con Ricky y Bobby. Unirse a una marca que llega nueva a nuestro deporte, tomar una moto nueva y desarrollarla hasta dar lugar a una moto de carreras es una oportunidad única en la vida. El equipo que Triumph está formando para competir en el Mundial de SuperMotocross es insuperable y, junto con el apoyo de los ingenieros de la fábrica, estoy seguro de que tendremos una moto competitiva en la parrilla de salida de Anaheim 1 en 2024”.

Bobby Hewitt, Director del equipo Triumph Racing– SMX: “Conozco a Ivan desde hace muchos años. Ha sido campeón del AMA de SX en varias ocasiones y también campeón del AMA de MX; ha competido al más alto nivel e incluso ha sido miembro en varias ocasiones del equipo americano en el Motocross de las Naciones”.

“Incorporar al proyecto de Triumph Racing, aquí en los EE. UU., a alguien con su talento añade un nivel superior de calidad y experiencia en competición a una base que ya era sólida de por sí. En 2014 tuve el privilegio de contar con Ivan en el equipo y antes de retirarse, también participó como piloto profesional en uno de mis anteriores programas de carreras. Durante ese tiempo, tuve la oportunidad de trabajar personalmente con él como piloto, experimentar su atención al detalle como piloto de pruebas y, lo que es más importante, ver de primera mano cómo trabaja y cómo se convertiría en mentor de nuevos pilotos”.
